Post GE 14 : Mahathir Should Just Take Back The Education Portfolio

Of all Mahathir's cabinet appointments to date, the most concerning was the one  of Maszlee Malik as the education minister. This was after coalition partners had objected to Mahathir himself assuming the portfolio because it had been agreed that whoever would be the prime minister should not hold any other portfolio besides.

Lim Kit Siang said the restriction agreed to only covered the Pm holding the Finance portfolio.

Well, as if to spite the objectors, Mahathir has appointed Maszlee Malik who is a newbie to the scene and largely unknown to the general public.

With principally Islamic credentials and untested, would Maszlee skew education in one direction and ignore 'liberal' subjects like science and mathematics? If so, Bolehland is right royally screwed.

As far as voters are concerned, they would much prefer someone who is known to them and whose learning is more broad based. They certainly won't object to Mahathir himself assuming the education portfolio as long as it was not the finance one.

Mahathir would made a better education minister as he is someone who is tested and not afraid to make hard choices when and where called for.

Mahathir should just re assume the education portfolio to himself or appoint another person to the post.

That will reassure Bolehlanders who have voted for change

Kluang was a sleepy hollow, but is fast becoming a bustling town. You can't miss the bust-shaped gunung Lambak lording over the place and the town is well known for its tv brand coffee powder

Kluang RailCoffee
The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
