Malaysia's public hospitals in the 70s and early 80s were hailed among the world's best, both in terms of service and cost.
Today, after years of poor planning, neglect and foresight leading to lack of medical staff and personnel, they are becoming more like the last resort for the sick.
There is no choice but to resort to private hospitals as an alternative.
However, the cost of care and treatment at private hospitals is, as noted, becoming a huge concern.
Are private hospitals here becoming more and more like blood sucking dracula institutions, no?
What the government should do is look into prioritising people's health and investing more in public hospitals both financially and in ensuring medical staff and personnel are not denied the incentives for them to continue serving the public.
The neglect and tidak apa attitude towards ensuring our public hospitals remain among the world's one-time envy has been going on for years, leading to the poor perception of our public hospitals today.
Ai ya ya!!
