Why are Malaysians leaving the country for greener pastures?
To the simpleton racists, it is because these are the ungrateful ones.
To others, close to 2 million Malaysians have left the country because they can't find equal opportunities for themselves because of their skin colour.
Like it or not, it is not something we are prepared to acknowledge.
As the years pass, more and more will be looking to migrate in search of greener pastures.
One of the major beneficiaries is our southern neighbour, Singapore.
A tiny dot down south without natural resources of its own vis-a-vis Malaysia, yet it stands heads above up economically, whose currency exchange rate is now 3.5 times the Malaysian ringgit!
The brain drain will continue for as long as Malaysia sidelines meritocracy in favour of discriminatory policies and ignores talents.
The loss is ultimately the country's.
No amount of calling others ingrates or labelling them 'pendatang' (immigrants) will change the equation for the better.
At the end of the day, we are all Malaysian citizens.
Only the orang asli (the aborigines) of peninsular Malaysia and the natives of Sabah and Sarawak are the natives; still we are all Malaysians, aren't we?
No?
