In agreement with Ramkarpal Singh on the issue of the expected appointment of the current Attorney General Terrirudin as a Federal court judge and be made the CJM (Chief Judge of Malaysia) subsequently.
In fact, no attorney general should be appointed to the bench as the AG is not seen/perceived as independent, being the chief attorney serving the government of the day.
We need to not only have an independent judiciary for sure but also be seen to be so, to inspire confidence in the judiciary.
For long, till quite recently with the appointment of the country's first female Chief Justice Puan Tengku Maimun, there had been doubts about the independence of the Malaysian judiciary, especially when it involved the government of the day as a party to a case, no?
I might be wrong but why persist with a practice that does raise doubts at the very least?
