However, don't think the government will entertain meritocracy as part of the country's education system/policy.
Meritocracy is seen as a threat to what we have been practising for decades already - how to put it? race based entitlement education system?
One that has entrenched itself so deeply that any change seems impossible for any administration fool hardly enough to risk its tenure on change that is seen as a threat to the existing education system/policy.
But, unless we are bold and smart enough to embrace meritocracy as part of the education system and also focus more on STEM subjects instead of the emphasis on the afterlife, as you put it, we will remain mediocre at best loh.
