The incoming Agong's words are reassuring
The country is increasingly becoming more divided as politicians play to the gallery, each trying to show who is the worthy champion of race and religion as they work to further their own self-interest, not the rakyat's per se.
Power and all that that promises is all they are interested in.
Ignoring that Malaysia is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious country with a sizable non-Malay, non-Muslim population of some 40%
Parliament has become more like a circus where MPs are more interested at going after each other's throats instead of debating issues.
The country is also becoming more intolerant.
Some government departments won't serve the public who fail to meet their arbitrarily imposed dress code.
Just a day or two ago a worker at a restaurant was dismissed for wearing a necklace with a cross.
In some states like Kelantan, people have been warned or fined for wearing bermuda shorts even if they aren't Muslims.
Concerts are often cancelled or agitated to be cancelled, or roundly condemned just because the conservatives regard them as improper according to their taste.
To make matters worse, we have an indecisive leadership who talk more than they should lead, no?
Even a prince had alluded to that
Afraid to make decisions that might not be popular but are nevertheless the right thing to do in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious country to foster unity, harmony and understanding among and between the people, for example.
