Hanfu, The Graceful And Beautiful Traditional Chinese Dress In Action In The Streets

For a long time the Japanese kimono and the Korean hanbok were the only East Asian traditional clothing the world has been familiar with.

These, though, are not the Chinese traditional clothing.

In fact, for a long time too, the world has only known of the qipao or cheongsam and the tang jacket as the traditional clothing of the Chinese women and men respectively.

Qipao and the tang jacket, strictly, are not the traditional Chinese clothing. They are Manchurian.

The traditional Chinese clothing is the beautiful and graceful hanfu 汉服, literally, the clothing of the Han people.

In fact, hanfu predated the Japanese kimono and the Korean hanbok.

Both the Japanese kimono and Korean hanbok were adaptations of the Chinese hanfu.

Many, however, still mistake the hanfu as an adaptation of Japanese kimono or the Korean hanbok instead.

Not so surprising since hanfu has not been seen except in Chinese period dramas.

Not surprising too, many go agape when they do seen people wearing hanfu on the streets.

However, with the revival of interest among the Chinese themselves in recent years, things are hopefully changing.

I say rich amen to that!

Kluang was a sleepy hollow, but is fast becoming a bustling town. You can't miss the bust-shaped gunung Lambak lording over the place and the town is well known for its tv brand coffee powder

Kluang RailCoffee
The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
