It is time the world learns from China on how to contain Covid 19.
That, however, seems like it won't happen.
Decades of the west, especially the US, demonising the Middle Kingdom declaring whatever the Chinese government does is evil and undemocratic and all the good China says it has done is just propaganda, have blinkered the eyes of the west to the truth about China.
Everyone in the west believes the narrative pushed by their leaders, ably aided by the mass media, that nothing good ever comes out of of the Middle Kingdom. They would rather believe their leaders and the mass media.
They profess, however, that they have nothing against the Chinese people.
They are only against the CCP, the Chinese government.
But who do you think galvanised the Chinese people in the fight against the Covid 19 monster? Who enforced the lockdown and made sure that people followed what was good for them in the fight against a tiny invisible rogue?
Who ensured that there was ample food supply for everyone and that there was no need for panic buying throughout the 3 months of lockdown?
Who put into action a system of checks to ensure that testing was widely available and free of charge, even for the foreigners, et al?
If the west thinks that they have better ideas on how to fight Covid 19, well and good.
If west thinks that Chinese Virus Don't Spook The Market Donald Duck is the guy to follow, well and good.
Or that Straw Hat Herd Immunity Boris has even better ideas, well and good.
Only, what we are seeing is that US now leads the world in the number of those infected and the number of deaths with > 430,000 infected and > 14,000 deaths as of this writing.
With the UK fast catching up in the numbers, even surpassing China in the number of Covid 19 deaths.
What about Italy, Spain, France and even Germany and a host of other European countries? They are also reeling, with no end yet in sight of when they will be able to say 'Now we can breathe a sigh of relief! thank god!'
Maybe it is time the west puts aside its stubborn pride and hubris and takes a look on how China has handled the whole Covid 19 pandemic and learn from it.
