Mulan Teaser Trailer And Malaysian Si Milan Parody

When Disney said they would be coming out with a live-action movie of Mulan, fans across the world were eagerly looking forward to it.

The teaser trailer has just be released a few days ago and there is already a ton of reaction videos of the Mulan teaser.

I myself have watched a ton of these reaction videos and I must say a majority of them are positive about it and the reviewers are looking forward to watch the movie when it is supposed to premier March next year.

The one common lament is would there be Mushu the dragon? Personally, I think that character would distract from the live-action movie of Mulan. It is not in the original legend of Mulan and would probably not endear itself to the China audience.

As it is, there already are grumblings that the trailer incorrectly portrayed Mulan as a southerner with that opening scene of the tulou ('earthen building), the communal Hakka residence in Southern Fujian province.

Here in Bolehland where Malaysian Chinese are often treated like second class citizens and now and then told to 'balik Tong San' (go back to China), face institutionalised discrimination in securing admissions to public universities and tertiary institutions even though they may have better academic results and are better qualified than others, and have little or stand no chance of securing a civil service position, some smart alecks calling themselves 'Di Sini' (A play on the word Disney - Di Sini means 'here' in the Malay language) have made an interesting Mulan parody - 'Si Milan' (the said Milan) - satirising their predicament.

Enjoy! Or not!

Kluang was a sleepy hollow, but is fast becoming a bustling town. You can't miss the bust-shaped gunung Lambak lording over the place and the town is well known for its tv brand coffee powder

The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
