There Are No Two Ways About It, Mahathir Must Be Reminded Of PH's Reformist Agenda Or Be Told To Step Down, Now!

There is the saying that a leopard does not change its spots because that is its nature.

That saying applies to many people too. People do not really change. The older they are, the more set in their ways, especially one long used to the exercise of unrestricted power.

When he signed up to be with PH, Mahathir essentially committed himself to the coalition's reformist agenda.

However, that is not what it seems Mahathir is doing.

Making important decisions like the appointment of the new MACC chief with nary a consultation with his coalition partners, or the Cabinet, is not exactly advancing the reform agenda PH had sold itself to to voters who in good faith had put them in power.

Right, there is nothing in law to say that the Pm does not have the right to make the appointment, but such an important position as the head honcho of a supposedly independent body dedicated to the fight against corruption should not be made in such a peremptory manner, with no one in the ruling coalition or his own Cabinet having any inkling of it.

Mahthir is there as the Pm on the goodwill of his coalition partners. He may be the Pm but he has to treat his coalition partners, and the rakyat who had voted PH into power, with respect and not regard his position as a carte blanche to do as he pleases.

In fact, for concerned thinking Bolehlanders, the time has come for Mahathir to step down and pass the baton to Anwar as agreed to pre G14.

Not agreeing to set a date for that to happen is not helping the economy as the uncertainty of when or even whether Mahathir will hand over to Anwar does not help investors' confidence.

In fact, concerned Bolehlanders worry that Mahathir is no longer the man who can take Bolehland forward. His timid about-turns on agreeing to ratify ICERD and the Rome Statute at the first hint of opposition objection, with tail between the legs, does not exactly inspire confidence.

The man has largely outlived his time. He has no new ideas to offer the nation, rehashing old policies like starting another national car project and still pining to look to NipponLand for inspiration when the Nipponese sun has long set.

As someone said, Mahathir has not and will not change .

Congrats Zunar! keep up the good work. Continue your good work without fear or favour. Bolehlanders support your work for the good of the nation!

Update :

Hahaha .... Finace Twitter, Finance Twitter, now you sound more like the Dumb Twittering Donald Duck.

Sure, the Bolehland Constitution has not been amended to give the Parliamentary Select Committe oversight over the Pm's choice of a candidate to an important public position like that of the head honcho of MACC.

You know as well all Bolehlanders know, it is the peremptory appointment of Latheefa that is not welcome in an administration that the people had voted into power on PH's election pledge of transparency and accountability.

Bolehlanders don't want a return to the previous toxic administration's practice of one man deciding everything on his own without being accountable to anyone. You know how that ended up so badly for Bolehland.

So, it is dis-ingenious to suggest it is all right for Maha to do as he did in Latheefa's appointment, even if yes, the Pm could legally do what he did and anything else be damned.

Sure, Anwar did appoint Rafizi as a vice-president of his party Keadilan. But are you suggesting that that is the same as the Pm appointing the head of an important supposedly independent body?

And yes, why not? - investigate Taib, investigate Anwar (if you want to) and all of the rest in the long list you mentioned.

And yes, why not Maha the Great One himself too! No proof? That is the purpose of an investigation, isn't it? And if you have proof already, why investigate? - indict!

Kluang was a sleepy hollow, but is fast becoming a bustling town. You can't miss the bust-shaped gunung Lambak lording over the place and the town is well known for its tv brand coffee powder

The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
