Mahathir has twice said that he was not satisfied with the performance of his ministers.
Well, the Pm has largely himself to blame. He was the one who chose his Cabinet.
He chose a large number from his own party though it has only 13 Parliamentary seats compared to Anwar's Keadilan and Kit Siang's DAP.
Don't know about you, but among ministers appointed from the Pm's own party, one stands out as more of a comic figure than an education minister. His one notable boast is to mandate a change of school children's shoe colour from white to black.
We have yet to hear of how Maszlee plans to make education great. What we hear now is that he thinks swimming must be taught to our student population. Had that come from the sports minister in the hope of one day unearthing a Olympian swimmer or the welfare minister concerned that students acquire a life saving skill, it would have been easier to understand.
Okay, okay, it seems that schools in some countries like Finland and Australia have swimming lessons for their students. And the idea for swimming lessons actually came from the Pm himself . But should we just follow suit when our education system itself needs urgent revamping?
As it is, how is swimming related to education except perhaps in an obscure and a distant way, is what Bolehlanders wait to hear from the great Maszlee on what his boss told him hehehe.....
And we have yet to hear anything from another ministerial appointee from the Pm's own party, one Minister Rina. What has she been doing? We have yet to hear from her.
The ministers who seem to perform have come largely from DAP.
Transport minister Anthony Loke is one. Gobind Singh Deo, the multi-media minister for another.
Some might say Lim Guan Eng talks too much as the finance minister. Well, if someone who habitually calls a spade a spade instead of a rose is said to talk too much, I would go for the garrulous.
Investors who don't like to hear the truth but prefer to hear only sweet-coated half truths and assurances deserve their desserts. The savvy ones know better and benefit from hearing the truth and making informed judgments hahaha....
Then we have Yeo Bee Yin of the ministry with the longest sounding name - the Ministry of Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment. That is a mouthful, but the lady knows her stuff and does well.
Some say Teresa Kok as the primary industries minister is not doing enough to help the palm oil industry.. They say she should be talking more with China to buy more of our palm oil by being nice to the Middle Kingdom.
But it is not she who sets the agenda with China. It is the Pm himself who is seen by the Middle Kingdom as not being so friendly.
Mahathir is more of a Nipponman than a Chinaman, to put it that way hohoho....
There you have it, my two cents worth.

Kluang RailCoffee
The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
