Is Mahathir In His Second Coming Able To Succeed With Pet Projects That Failed In His First Epiphany?

If there is one thing certain about the man Bolehlanders lionise, it is that he is no lion, or a tiger, but a leopard.

They say a leopard cannot and does not change its spots.

So true.

Soon after he took office as Pm revenant, Mahathir took to NipponLand. That was where he looked to in his first epiphany for inspiration. 'Look East Policy' to sugarcoat the pilgrimage. If one could label him, one would not call him a China-man by any subterfuge. A Nippon-jin more like the thing.

It was painful therefore to hear Mahathir tell his Chinese counterpart, that he had always looked to the East for inspiration and that included the Middle Kingdom. At best, that was disingenuous. At worse, it was like taking Li Keqiang for a village bumpkin who knew no better.

When Bolehland was hit with the heat of Look East Policy back in the 80's, China was completely off everyone's radar because it was simply nobody's child. The Middle Kingdom didn't even know how to do to say KFC! - back then.

Today, Mahathir is looking to revive  his pet loves - Cyberjaya, Multimedia Super Corridor, National Car 2 or is it 3? Formula One and what have you? He is even thinking of bringing Daim back into the government?

Just hope that the Pm won't look to restart the bridge to nowhere thingy, unwanted, unloved and emphatically rejected by the tiny dot down south.

Mahathir was even mocking Bolehlanders who want to continue being peasants and fishermen instead of wanting to stride bravely forward with another national car project.

He said a car has something like 4000 components and if we had another national car project, we will have engineers who could learn to make them, not only for cars but also for other things too.

Well, the Pm had his Proton for many years, well cocooned and protected from competition and billions of ringgit dumped in to advance it, yet apparently we still don't have the engineers who were supposed to have learned to make the components.

So, what is the fuss all about? Will a second assay work the magic?

Or is it all about ego and megalomania?

There is no way a second go will succeed where the first failed miserably until it had to be sold to Geely, who didn't even exist when Proton was first launched hahaha......

Not if Bolehland continues to believe in the myth of ketuanan as opposed to the merits of meritocracy.

Not if all you are interested in, is to help the few, to keep ketuanan alive, make some money with no interest to learn or work for their upkeep. In the name of progress or whatever hehehe.......

Not if tongkat economy is preferred over real economy.

Megalomania?

What is certain is that Mahathir has nothing new to offer the country.

The Pm in his second epiphany is just rehashing the 80s thingy that won't work in this digital era.

Kluang was a sleepy hollow, but is fast becoming a bustling town. You can't miss the bust-shaped gunung Lambak lording over the place and the town is well known for its tv brand coffee powder

Kluang RailCoffee
The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
