Those who are not happy with McDonald Malaysia's requirement that cakes brought to their outlets to celebrate birthdays must be halal ones, should not agonise over the matter.
As consumers, they have choices. Don't celebrate birthdays at the McDonald Malaysia outlets. Better still, boycott the outlets altogether. Action speaks louder than words and is often the more effective response.
And while McDonald Malaysia is at it, it would be nice of them to establish their halal credentials by requiring customers (whether Muslim or non-Muslim) to also prove that their payment is kosher, not in any way porcine contaminated nor earned or obtained from non-kosher activities or sources.
