Teresa Deng And LangGa Lamu

Teresa Deng is irreplaceable. There will never be another Teresa Deng.

But, 20 years after her untimely passing, we are blessed to have Chen Jia and now Thai teenager LangGa Lamu to remind us that the diva's voice lives on although she is no longer with us.

He has done an excellent job, painstakingly providing English translations to the songs that will be very helpful to those not familiar with Mandarin.


LangGa Lamu's rendition, just like Teresa Deng's, of 独上西楼 (du shang xi lou) is spine-tingling too. Personally, though, I feel Lamu sang the song with a deeper passion than Teresa Deng did.

That collection of songs based on old Chinese poems of the Tang and Song Dynasties is priceless and showcased Teresa Deng's pedigree.

The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family.
