It is time Indonesia took responsibility for the haze blanketing South East Asia.
They cannot conveniently blame foreign plantation companies resorting to slash and burn tactics for the cause of the haze..
What has Indonesia been doing all these years then?
Throw the full weight of the law at the culprits. And if the existing law is inadequate, legislate to include huge monetary penalty and jail term.
Unfortunately, in today's dog eat dog world, self interest and corruption override everything else.
No use going through the farce of Asean Joint Committee to tackle the problem.
They have been "tackling" the problem for the past twenty plus years already and come another twenty years, they will still be at it if there is no real political will to do what must be done even if that means that the cost of doing business goes up and less goes into vested and interested pockets
We are not talking about a once in a while occurrence.
This haze madness is an annual curse because of transborder greed and indifference.
