I had written a post lamenting the hare-brained idea.
If Hishamuddin is still serious about the idea, I wish him all the best. But I fear that it won't be a simple recruit and put to use exercise.
We do not know how many mat rempit there are.
All we know is that their number seems to be growing each day, for hardly a day passes by that we don't hear about them causing trouble to themselves and endangering the lives of other innocent road users.
Today's the star on line carried a report of 150 mat rempit in Penang being nabbed and made to push their motorbikes for racing and doing dangerous stunts on the road.
But according to the report, none of them were sorry and were in fact seen laughing and joking as they pushed their bikes to the marine base.
The State Internal Security Public Order and Traffic Chief, supt Wan Aziz Wan Husin, was quoted by the newspaper to have said
We screened all those present, and eight youths tested positive for drug. Our records showed that a number of them were arrested in a similar operation about a week ago
These are the people, Hishamuddin, you are going to deal with to fight crime.
Good luck to you and Malaysians!
