Teresa Deng

Teresa Deng was perhaps one of the most popular Chinese artistes ever.

She had a sweet and melodious voice that enthralled her Chinese fans all over the world, including here in Malaysia.  But she did not only sing in Mandarin, she sang well too in a number of other languages and was a household name in Japan too.

Although her songs were at one time banned in mainland China, she was also popular there. Her popularity was such that it had been said that Deng the communist leader ruled China by day and Deng the singer ruled by night.

One of her most popular songs was 月亮代表我的心 (yue liang dai biao wo de xin)( The Moon Speaks For My Heart) The Moon Speaks For My Heart

The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
