Singaporean Anthony Chen: Director Of Ilo Ilo 爸妈不在家 Cannes Film Festival Camera d'Or Winner

I had not heard of Singaporean director Anthony Chen until I watched last night's live telecast of Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards 50th Anniversary Edition where his film 爸妈不在家 (ba ma bu zai jia - absent parents) or Ilo Ilo won several awards including for best picture.

Here's a report on the Awards

Ilo Ilo is a film about a 10 year old Singaporean boy and his relationship with his Philipino nanny. That film had won the Cannes Film Festival prestigious Camera d'Or award.

I have not watched the film, but plan to watch it on DVD when it is available.

  2. I have no idea whether they are coming up with a DVD of the film. I just don't think Malaysia will bring in the feature film.
