Does Petronas Belong To Your Grandfather?

Does Petronas belong to your grandfather?

Well, in a way it does, but not to your grandfather.

Someone else's grandfather.

And the kid is not your son.

You see, Petronas, the national oil and gas company, was established in August 1974 under an Act of Parliament - the Petroleum Development Act 1974.

Under the Act, even Parliament and your Yang Berhormat (MP) cannot scrutinise its accounts.

Not even the august Jemaah Menteri (the Cabinet).

The only person who has access to its annual accounts is the Prime Minister.

In such a closed, secretive and limited milieu, it is only easy to conclude that abuse, questionable practices and deals, favouritism and whatnot of like disposition are the brothers and sisters-in-arms.

I don't know.

Because I am not the grandfather.

Nor the brothers and sisters-in-arms.

Like you, I can only read and listen and think a little and decide for myself whether it is time to go for a change of government.

Kluang was a sleepy hollow, but is fast becoming a bustling town. You can't miss the bust-shaped gunung Lambak lording over the place and the town is well known for its tv brand coffee powder

Kluang RailCoffee
The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
