Fantastic: My Astro Music Video For CNY 2012

This year's My Astro music video to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the dragon deserves a pat on the back.

Altogether, it took some 18 days of filming, involved some 60 Astro and MyFm artists and 10,000 members of the Malaysian public, covered all the 13 states including the federal capital of Kuala Lumpur.

Wow! An impressive effort. And the result is pleasing.

For one of the truly rare times, I say Malaysia Boleh!

  1. Nice song, especially the singing from 5:40 to 6:40. A great idea to unite all Malaysians via this video. And the many children can watch this video many years from now. Now I associate Malaysia with people singing happy songs.

    1. Each year Astro comes out with a CNY music video. As far as I am concerned, this year's CNY music video deserves a pat on the back. It is not an easy task to organise, coordinate and get everything going smoothly when it involved some many ordinary Malaysians from all walks of life of all ages.

Yasmin Ahmad was arguably Malaysia's best story-teller, filmmaker and advertiser. She was well known for her Petronas commercials and had won numerous international awards including the Golden Lion award for the 'Tan Ming Hong In Love' commercial. Her feature film Sepet not only garnered her several international awards including for Best Asian Film but also drew multi-racial audiences that rarely happens for a local film.

Kluang was a sleepy hollow, but is fast becoming a bustling town. You can't miss the bust-shaped gunung Lambak lording over the place and the town is well known for its tv brand coffee powder

Kluang RailCoffee
The Kluang railway station coffee shop, now re-branded Kluang RailCoffee, is well known for its cuppa of coffee and the charcaol grilled piping hot buns oozing with butter and kaya...It used to attract standing-room only crowds. It still does, but the last time I was there it wasn't a good experience for me. The famous coffee had somewhat lost its oomph and even the buns...The shop has a long and noted history being first opened for business in 1938 and the place is now run by the 3rd generation LIm family. I hope the next time I return, the coffee would regain its oomph. Click to read more...
